Jinhe and Jiamin thinks my life revolves around politics. I do agree sometimes. I got all excited when I heard that Welyon's topic for impromptu speech was "Patriotism" which is oh-so-political to me. I was more excited than nervous for my China reform presentation, though I feel that I did mess it up a bit due to lack of proper organisation. Love reading the papers, plus reading between the lines to get the political message behind quotes and speeches of leaders. Whollygosh. Labels: America's next top models, hall 9, news, school
By the way, my topic for impromptu speech was "Ambition". Now everyone knows I want to be America's Next Top Model, that I want to "strut my stuff" on the glam runway. And that my favourite pastime is prancing in my room. Another whollygosh. Nerves didn't get to me because I enjoyed babbling without second-thought.
I asked Prof Ho the meaning of scientific development, that rhetorical in the 17th Party Congress by Hu Jintao. He said it was pure political motivation, that Hu wanted an ideology people could identify with when you mention his name. This does sound logical. Suddenly I'm all interested in China. It is an interesting country to study. China's foreign correspondent, sounds good.
Just back from block supper, got a message from Junfeng. Said he forgot bout shooting for his block. Oops, now only 47 got no photos. Die. :O Donuts were delicious. Bite-size reduces the guilt.
An interesting news to share:
this is amazing and absurd. A vending machine skirt!!! It's a vending machine disguise to hide from your pursuers. LOL. Trust the jap to come up with all these quirky designs.
Though, if I was the pursuer, I'd think: "Chey, so easy to see through the ploy!!!"
Quite dumb actually hor.
P.S: Guess i'd go catch The Brave One tomorrow, though the showtime is BADDD

Surprisingly, Jiamin's spree tendencies are like an infectious virus, and I just caught it. vaaaa...Nobody should have introduced this to me, though I knew bout all these sprees long ago, but seeing Jiamin's fingers busy at work makes mine itchin for some action too. Labels: family, hall 9, shopping
But luckily I'm restrained in buying. Just one buy. Take it that I'm making up of the lack of ground shopping.
:)
Finally finished horrendous file transfer to Junfeng. Nothing seems to work. I tried filesend and Yousendit, but they all got stuck in the process of uploading. Hate big files. Luckily msn to the rescue, though I won't give it much credit since it's damn damn slow. Sorry, tremendously slow, i mean. (Grins at SSM)
Anyway, some worrying in the house. Coz of the dreadful Secondhand Dealers Act that's going to take effect this December, the trading business sure would be affected. Cross-cheques for all transactions is so not going to work because most of my Dad's buyers and sellers are illiterate and know nuts about cheques. Same for my Dad. It's getting really troublesome and that explains my Dad's lack of sleep lately. It's irritating to know that it's not an iron rice bowl anymore and it gets even frustrating when I recall that he's the sole breadwinner of the family. Though worse come to worse, I just become garang guni and go door to door knocking. Luckily I know how to issue a cheque. *Frowns*
BAAAAA

It's record-breaking. Labels: hall 9
I slept for 1 and a half hour this afternoon. I usually only take really short naps.
This must be the most unproductive Thursdays ever. Now I'm left with only 2 more hours for work. Shucks.
Anyway, adhoc photo-taking yesterday was quite fun. I was in an energetic mood, the same cannot be said for today. But I do hope publications churn out exciting informal photos. Though today Jun Feng won't be helping me out with the shooting, hope my camera doesn't screw up again. *Cross fingers*

I'm deeply grateful to those techies in my subcomm because sadly, miss moon can only provide art direction for our online portal. After a few weeks, tech talk still sounds like Greek to me, and css, html, php, ftp blah blah blah looks more like arabic scripts. It's a wonder how these boys seem to grow up with all these acronyms deeply embedded in their world, whereas girls like me only recognise words like Prada, Gucci, D&G. It's a serious generalisation, and I might get slam by tech girls out there, but you can't deny it's true, guys are more inclined to know these stuff. It's called socialisation.
Gosh, those expressway's names must be thought up by some techie guy. PIE, CTE, AYe....It would have been disastrous if you got a girl to do the naming. I would have called them "The Escape Route", "The Tunnel of Love",or even "The Road to Rome". We would always kill to have cheesy terms as road names. It would have been easier to remember too. It's called branding. HAHAHA. (laughing at my own joke, how embarassing)
Anyway, the web revamp is not completely done. We can't really call it a revamp either, because all those are minor changes we've done. Look into it, and see what else we can do. :) Meanwhile, i'm undecided regarding shoppin on Sat. Should I or Should I not????
having a bad stomachache, and life's less than a bed of roses now. :(

the grip is good. the feel is good. overall, im happy with him. it's a him, because it's SEXY. oops. goin mad.
i think i caught the influenza from my afroangel. the virus of short sentences. they're not even sentences.
Great bargains at the comex. thought the package for d40x was way more enticing compared to d80, although i can hardly afford the d80. it might be a case of sour grapes. But im satisfied, really. OKOK, for the time being.
My first project would be for the SPH new media project on Getai photography. More photos on deviant. WEEEEE.
I went getai the other day too. FUN.
Next up would be the Lantern Extravaganza at Chinese Garden i hope. Anyone interested? Ah Hua? SSM? Or any new photography enthusiasts?
Feel like im living the life of a reporter now. Because there are deadlines to meet. Though i earn peanuts, and the deadlines are not really tight. Being part of the SPH and Nanyuan stuffs is really exciting me. Because i just love to write, especially in Chinese. 我是说真的.
JCRC stuff started too. This week. :):):)
startin the new era of short sentences,
moon with love. full stop.

this week is full of thunders, storms, rain, drizzles and more water. Labels: hall 9, movies, photography
Especially cant stand the flooding of the toilet.
twas' the rally yesterday.
We gave a resounding YES as an answer to the question.
I said it willingly, however, only apprehensive about the time i have to spend away from home.
Weekends without home would be torturous. But i can make it through all this.
BTW, i made a mistake, homesong stories' sneaks only starts tomorrow. So JP might be showing it after all.
P.S: it's time for war at COMEX

I cant believe i have to make two speeches at one go tomorrow.
1. the Aesop's fables storytelling exercise for Speech and Argumentation
2. the rally speech
No.1 would be good practice for No.2
Prof Blaardy Hell says I should pretend everyone is really interested in what I have to say to be a good speechmaker.
Prof Blaardy Hell also says that I should stand shoulder in line with feet, not slouch and present with confidence.
I imagine i'd be like charismatic V.Balakrishnan a.k.a confident politician after a few more practices.
Wish me luck.

i see the prospect of me getting out of the room unharmed dimmed as the clock ticks.
when you know there's a hungry resident cat around, you'd be wise enough not to dabao fish and chips to your room. yet, im not that wise you see.
Escaped from the cornering by the cat thanks to Melissa's and a french fry's help. Safe in the room, alas, only safe in the room. I NEED TO PEE. I HAVE A MEETING AT 10.30PM LATER!!!! I gotta get out of the freakin room somehow. But i cant.
Yes, im fond of cats, very fond of them, but only as photography subjects, not when it camps outside my room, the constant meowing getting on my nerves, making me paranoid that i check through the peephole every few minutes, only to be dismayed by the fact that IT'S STILL THERE. I cant deal with cats with a piece of fish in the room.
CAN A KIND SOUL OR SUPERHERO SAVE ME FROM THE ENTRAPMENT OF THE HUNGRY CAT????!!!!

Got a call from my mum yesterday night, and i aced my Malay test!
It's so me to go on boasting about it, i think it's going to be endless torture and agony for Simin for this week.
IT'S LIKE I GOT 98! I GOT 98! I GOT 98! TOP IN CLASS TOP IN CLASS TOP IN CLASS!!! WHOO.
Now, im effectively trilingual. wootx.
Anyway, hall life has been hyped by the mere existence of a radio and a tv set. Can't resist singing out loud everytime there's a nice song. Can't help it, there's a superstar in me.
It's a period when creative juices are constantly flowing, never ebbing. I need some venue to apply those crazy ideas.....GOSH

one of the questions i have been asking myself since the start of the week.
it's less about the academic demands, more about the miscellaneous stuff that seems to be taking up quite a bit of my time. I suddenly find myself without the time to indulge in my occasional pleasures of numbing my senses before the tv set, reading a full CLEO mag at one go or even continue with the habit of sleeping at 10pm and waking up in the late drowsy afternoon the next day. I guess everyone finds themselves in this predicament, so i can comfort myself with the fact that I'm not alone.
Might be running for assistant pub sec in hall 9. The opportunity came knocking on my door, so i shall gladly take up this responsibility. Despite the similarities between the job scopes of an a pub sec and my previous appointment as photog chair, i cant help thinking whether the shoes are too big to fill. Maybe it was the way how Junfeng was being so serious about it, or maybe it's because of the fear of disappointments in endeavours i always wanted to pursue, like previously in photog. Gosh, im usually not a worrier, yet now i can go on and on rambling about my insecurities. But, im still optimistic about this challenge, i think it would be quite a fulfilling one.
Besides this, i have an interview with SPH in the early afternoon this Sat for the student reporter thingy, an e-invitation to the introductory session for YPAP which im still undecided on whether i should/should not go, plus i still have to find time for "fun" stuff like dinner and dance tonight, 9-5 next week, welfare services club welcome tea party and SCI's The Thomas Crown Affair. Attention: Overload!!!!
After 6-7 months of "having all the time in the world", now im back to juggling schoolwork and responsibilities. I used to always love this feeling of accomplishing alot in a short period of time, yet having to start this over again now makes me feel a bit apprehensive about my decisions. I have to get my old self back before i start embarking on this journey of unknown.
Relak ah, im not depressed or anything, just a bit worried. :)
BTW, im totally enjoying my HA304. im finally doing something about public admin. Gosh, im such a nerd. BLAARDY HELL.
